Project Description under development
Scope: 2,200 S.F
The University retained WAY architecture + design partners to transform an old defunct series of classrooms and offices into a larger, flexible classroom capable of supporting many registrar class types; each requiring a unique furniture set up and IT/ AV support. WAY design a room that has 4 wall teaching capability along with flexible furniture design layouts from typical lecture style, tiered viewing to pod and group lessons. Nesting tables were specified and a furniture storage closet was provided for ease of layout changes by the teaching faculty when needed.
Linear Acoustical clouds were provided to break up the length of the room. Rubber tile flooring was selected by the faculty and facilities team due to its resilience, low maintenance and quiet performance characteristics. WAY coordinated with PSU campus IT/AV and facility groups during all phases of design and construction.

Scope: 2,200 S.F
A renovation to a faculty cluster of offices suites into a reimagined combined open office suite which promotes physical, visual and team interaction. Strategically placing 7 offices near the perimeter along with an 8 person conference room highlighted by a field fabricated demountable partition system of glass, patterned film and wood doors. Support space includes a mail room, two clusters of collaboration tables for adjunct faculty and student near a break out area and kitchenette.
A shared 8th office provides flexible expansion / growth for either faculty or staff. 2” linear light fixtures create a perpendicular rythym along the ceiling highlighted by the same fixtures becoming a wall accent as the light fixture turns down 4’ on the wall to continue the floor pattern and break up an otherwise long corridor.
This phase II Project completes the University’s vision for this half of the building’s second floor wing and provides a much needed upgrade for the campus faculty. Construction cost was closely monitored between construction divisions 02 – 12 for cost alignments. Labor and Industry required ADA improvements per state request and interpretation (outside the scope of work) were factored while other construction items were value engineered for improved cost parament alignments.
Light touches of strategically placed accent wall paints provides for a faculty customized experience within a controlled finish palette.

The University retained WAY architecture + design partners to assess the common areas for renewal. WAY observed the existing corridors were full of loose furniture and random settings which were moved daily by the students, Often interfering with corridor egress clearances. WAY designed a series of seating enclosures with accent wood cladding, bulkheads and accent paint, with furniture presets, power and lighting, each supported by glass marker boards for group study opposite the corridor demising wall.
The central staircase railings were accentuated with new custom staggered linear, perforated, powder coated and curving panels to create an intentional rhythm reflecting the new acoustical linear wood slats above. All ceiling element set set in a newly constructed and illuminated cove and bulkhead. The new LVT planks were layed out to mirror the Led lighting and accents above. The project was designed to be phased install per floor; Budget and Schedule were critical drivers for the user groups
